Scaredy Cat

(FULLSCREEN IS ESSENTIAL)

Scaredy Cat is a unique platformer/collector where you play as a cat who causes platforms to move while running or standing still. You must collect 5 gems of light in order to complete your quest and unlock the passageway to safety. Periodically the lights will go out, causing a ghost to chase after you! Tread carefully, for if the ghost grabs you or you fall too far from the platforms you will die and start from square one. Think outside the box to find all of the gems hidden around the map, and watch out for platforms that you may not see at first. Best of luck adventurer!

(I would recommend downloading the game for best experience but web build should be fully playable as well)

Mechanics:

• Stand still to cause horizontal platforms to move
• Move in either direction to cause vertical platforms to move
• Collect gems by running or jumping into them (you can hold multiple, but you need to bring them back to the passageway in the starting area)
• The ghost enemy will spawn periodically and chase after you (indicated by a palette inversion)

Controls:

• Move Left: "A" or "Left Arrow"
• Move Right: "D" or "Right Arrow"
• Jump: "W", "Space", or "Up Arrow"
• Restart: "R"
• Pause: "ESC" (pause not recommended on web build since it makes you exit fullscreen)

This game was created solo for the 1-BIT JAM in August 2023. This is my second jam so far and I had a blast making it! As such, I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks for checking it out!
